Monday.
New Diet Day.
Hello Monday — let the battle begin.
I have started a healthy eating and exercise plan every Monday for the past twelve years.
I usually crack by Thursday.
It’s my love of wine.
Gets me every time.
Monday motivation
My trick to being disciplined is to book a holiday where bathing-suit wearing will be required, or to purchase an outfit that would look great if only I weighed ten kilos less.
I have a wardrobe full of ten-kilos-less items.
Full.
Diets
I’ve tried many diets. I have the books — and the online subscriptions — to prove it.
I know it’s pretty simple: cut out refined foods, move more.
I just find it hard to make the time when there are TV shows to be watched, candy to be crushed, and — let’s face it — after sitting in front of a computer all day being a slave to the corporate dollar, I deserve a treat.
Exercise
We live across the road from a beautiful park with a well-designed walking trail. People drive from other suburbs to walk and run around this park.
I watch them.
Rarely join them.
We have it all at home: a rowing machine, spin bike, bench press, weights, yoga mats, Pilates bells and whistles, ballet DVDs, Wii Fit…
…and still, I joined a gym.
To walk on their treadmill.
I recently found two bikes hidden amongst the passionfruit overgrowth. That brings the total to seven bikes for a family of four.
I wear a Fitbit every day. My goal is ten thousand steps per day.
That’s a lot.
I usually crack at about six thousand steps most days.
Walking on the spot in front of the TV at 9.00pm to get my steps up doesn’t work.
I tried.
Tomorrow is Monday.
Let the battle begin.
